Under Republic Act No. 12215, or the Philippine Agriculturists Act, the Agriculturist Licensure Examination (ALE) is held annually by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as supervised by the Professional Regulatory Board of Agriculture (PRB-Agriculture) in various testing centers across the country. Graduates of agriculture-related degrees (such as BS Agriculture, BS Agricultural Technology, BS Agribusiness Management, BS Agricultural and Applied Economics, BS Agricultural Biotechnology, BS Agricultural Chemistry, etc.) are eligible to take the board exam, provided they have completed at least 36 units of agricultural subjects (Sec. 15, RA 12215).

Examinees take exams in two subject areas each day over the three-day examination period. Each of the six subject areas comprises 100 questions, for a total of 600 items.
